Does Gimp still use .pat files for patterns?

I've noticed that most of the patterns I have downloaded for Gimp lately are just .png's. That makes it nice but does Gimp still use .pat files for patterns as well or did they get rid of that? It seems like Adobe Photoshop still uses .pat files.

Anyone have any good tricks or ways to make patterns tileable or seamless? I have some nice textures but it is proving hard to turn them into good patterns!

texturemate now has a Forum!

Bill's picture

It's in it's infancy and still has a lot of polishing to do, but texturemate now has Forums. I figured that since we already have over 100 texturemate members, we should probably have a place for discussions and questions. Let me know if you have any feedback or suggestions!

New Texturemate Blog View!

Bill's picture

Texturemate now has a blog view if you prefer just seeing the latest graphic design resources and tutorials in the order they are posted! I created this page due to some reader feedback where people wanted to see what the newest resource was, regardless of what it is! The blog view will update whenever a brush set, pattern set, texture pack, or article is posted. Let me know how you like it!

To see the blog view, point your browser to: http://www.texturemate.com/blog.

Thirty Textures Added Today as well as Pixel Art Pattern Pack!

Bill's picture

Thirty new texture stock images are up today! They are a mixture of brick, cement, wood, and metal. There are some pretty nasty, cracked, grungy ones. I also uploaded another graphic resource - a pattern set of 30 seamless small pixel patterns! Hope you find them useful! You might notice comments and things are starting to have user avatars; I'm working on getting the site ready for registered users!

Texturemate Tops 2000 Free Textures, New Patterns Added as Well!

Bill's picture

Texturemate is now at 2100 textures, which is great for only being around a couple months. I have started to add patterns as well for Adobe Photoshop and Gimp that I hope you enjoy!
