Well, it's been awhile. I finally had some time to upload some new free textures! Now that summer is coming to an end, I should have more time to be able to add new design resources to texturemate. The new textures are mainly grungy and were taken in some very cool industrial ruins. Hope you like the new textures!
I had a little time to upload 70 new textures that I've had sitting around on my camera's memory card for a while now. There are quit a few different types of textures and surfaces that have been updated!
Well, even though it is very cold here, the sun was out today so I decided to spend a little time with the camera. I ended up with just about 25 new textures that are now up on the site. Some grungy metal and fabrics that should be useful for you! Hope you enjoy the textures!
With today's latest texture additions, texturemate now has over 2600 free textures! I've also been uploading a lot of my brush and pattern sets from my collection and will continue to do so.
I had some time to upload about 130 new textures today. There are some nice metal ones and a bunch of brick textures. A new Digital category has been made for textures made in Photoshop for free use!
An effective way to use texture images and stock photos is to turn them into brushes for use in your graphic editor. Both Adobe Photoshop and Gimp allow you to easily create brushes and maintain libraries of them. Brushes are a very effective tool for any graphic artist because you can easily change the size, opacity, and placement of them in your image. You can also change their rotation and shape very quickly. Different brushes can be used for common tools such as the paintbrush, airbrush, and eraser.
130 texture stock photos of various categories such as brick, cobblestone, grass, wall, and wood have been added today. Due to feedback, the first free texture pack has been split into two packs of 15 textures each instead of one containing 30 textures.
Over 200 free textures were uploaded and categorized today, bringing the total number of stock images available to over 1,100! To celebrate, a free texture pack containing 30 high resolution distressed wood textures is available. Get it here:
I had some fun with my camera today and over 50 free textures were added: grunge textures, cement textures, granite textures, symbols textures, dead flower textures and wood textures, oh my! Some interesting freemasonry symbols I happened to find are in there as well. A couple new bookmarking and sharing methods for social media added to the site as well. Provide feedback on navigation if you desire!

My name is Bill Scott; I'm an Electrical Engineer who dabbles as a photographer, graphic artist, web designer, and 3d modeler in my spare time. I created texturemate as my portal to share my own texture images, stock photographs, brushes and other resources I create with others online. I hope you enjoy!
